Jaah Mkupete

PHD Student

Jaah Mkupete holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics and Statistics as well as a Masters in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Stellenbosch University. His thesis focuses on exploring child health and nutrition inequality in Tanzania using the standard quasi-experimental econometric technique and machine learning for land use classification. Before joining Stellenbosch University, he spent a year at the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education (CERGE-EI) in Prague doing Advanced Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics courses. Jaah is also a faculty member of the University of Dar es Salaam (Mkwawa Campus). His main research interest is on applied micro-econometrics, spatial econometrics, development and health Economics.
