Dr Stephen Taylor
Research Associate of the Department of Economics; presently working full time in the department of basic education
Stephen was previously a full-time member of RESEP and completed a PhD in Economics at the University of Stellenbosch in 2010. His PhD focussed on the educational outcomes of poor South African children and how these outcomes relate to economic development within the country.
Stephen is currently a Research Associate of the University, but has been working as a researcher and advisor in the Department of Basic Education since 2011. He has worked extensively in the Economics of Education field, working on topics including impact evaluation of education interventions, the effect of language on educational outcomes, the effect of socio-economic status on education in South Africa, and the relationship between access to education and school quality in African countries.
