Olivia is a lecturer in the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University, where she has been employed since 2005. She completed her B.Com (Honours) (cum laude) at the University of the Western Cape in 2004. The degree of M.Com (Economics), specialising in the Economics of Education, was conferred on her by the University of Stellenbosch in March 2007. During June and July 2007 she was a Frank Andrews Fellow and Summer Scholar at the Summer Institute for Survey Research Techniques at Michigan University in the USA. She is passionate about teaching undergraduate students, which is currently her primary focus. Olivia is associated with RESEP as a researcher working on economics of education issues within the South African context. Her research interests include linkages between academic performance and child malnutrition, academic outcomes and family structure, as well as differences in academic performance between boys and girls in South Africa.
