Hendrik van Broekhuizen
Hendrik van Broekhuizen is postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Economics and member of the Research on Socio-Economic Policy (ReSEP) group at Stellenbosch University. His research focusses on the quantitative analysis of issues relating to the South African labour market and education system with specific emphasis on the linkages between higher education, skill-formation, and labour market outcomes.
He has been involved in a number of local and international research projects revolving around the quality of education, graduate production, and graduate labour unemployment in South Africa for such organizations as UNICEF, The Presidency of South Africa, The European Union, and The Department of Basic Education South Africa.
Hendrik is also regularly involved in providing technical data management and analysis training workshops for, among other institutions, the Department of Basic Education. He has a particular interest in applied data science and his research interests include behavioural economics, applied microeconometrics, labour economics, and the economics of education.
